Jackson County Public Library Offering Online And Outside Programs

(JACKSON CO.) – The Jackson County Public Library is offering online and outside programs for teens and adults this month.

Virtual programs will be posted on the library’s Facebook page with a link to the library’s YouTube channel, which can be viewed at any time. Click the “Subscribe” button on the library’s YouTube channel and the notification bell icon to stay caught up with the library’s virtual programs. Outside programs will be held inside a heated tent in the library parking lot.

Discovery Bus staff will offer virtual storytimes for kids at 3 p.m. today and Nov. 11, 18 and 25 and virtual adult crafts at 9 a.m. Friday and Nov. 20.

Learn about the history of The Hershey Chocolate Co. from Historic Voices presenter Laura F. Keyes via a Facebook Live presentation at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 on Facebook at facebook.com/myjclibrary.

At 6 p.m. Nov. 12, a Knit and Crochet Night video about yarn crafting will be posted to the library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Sign up to make a holiday snow globe with Information Services Assistant Angi Cursey at 2 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 14. These in-person craft classes for ages 18 and older will be held in a large heated tent in the parking lot at the library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour. Each class will be limited to 10 participants so social distancing can be observed. Register at myjclibrary.org/events or by calling 812-523-4636.

The Spilling Ink Writers’ Group will meet in the library tent at 11 a.m. Nov. 21. Kathi Linz, an Information Services assistant and a published author, will lead the group in a discussion of where to find ideas. This is a change from the regular 2 p.m. time for this program.

At 2 p.m. Nov. 23, the virtual game show version of “Library Jeopardy” will be available.

For teens ages 12 to 19, programs will be posted to the JCPL Teen Scene Facebook page or offered outside. An interactive quiz for teens will be posted at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Information Services Teen Specialist Hillary Pacheco will host a Pumpkin Painting Palooza program for teens at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the library tent. Sign up at myjclibrary.org/events or by calling 812-522-3412, ext. 1252. There is a limit of 10.

Teen Totes are available for teens in grades 6 through 12 while supplies last. Email hillary@myjclibrary.org for information about the totes, which include a monthly themed surprise with a library book of choice.
