Repairs Being Made On Armstrong Station Road Bridge

(BEDFORD) – Crews are working to repair the Bridge 107 on Armstrong Station Road bridge, Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes told the commissioners Tuesday morning.

“It should take around two weeks to complete repairs and have the bridge inspected,” said Holmes. “I know residents have had concerns, but we can’t do this stuff overnight on a historical bridge. We are doing our best to get the bridge open as soon as possible.”

Due to the bridge being a historic landmark, all work must be approved by the state historical review board.

When repairs are made to the bridge, the weight limit is expected to be around 8 tons, which will not be rated enough for school buses to cross.

The bridge was ordered closed after deterioration was located on the Fayetteville side of the bridge.

Work also continues on historical bridge 150 on Mill Creek Road.

“We are currently working with the railroad and will meet with INDOT in mid-november,” said Holmes.

Holmes is also applying for grants to replace bridges 162 on Stonington Road and bridge 124 on Huron Williams Road.
