Armstrong Station Road Bridge Not Expected To Open Until Mid-November

(SPRINGVILLE) – The Armstrong Station Road bridge that has been closed is not expected to be opened until at least mid-November according to Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes.

When repairs are made to the bridge, the weight limit is expected to be around 8 tons, which will not be rated enough for school buses to cross.

“We realize people are wanting this to be opened as quickly as possible but contractors are very busy right at this time,” Holmes told the Lawrence County Commissioners regarding the status of the bridge.

The bridge was ordered closed after deterioration was located on the Fayetteville side of the bridge.

The planned repairs will be a temporary fix to address the issues of the bridge.

Due to the bridge being a historic landmark, all work must be approved by the state historical review board.
