Two People Arrested After Traffic Stop

(BEDFORD) – Bedford Police officers arrested two people early Wednesday morning after an officer stopped the vehicle they were in the area of 29th Street and Washington Avenue.

The officer stopped the driver, 27-year-old Brandon Smith, of Bedford, after he committed a traffic infraction, according to Assistant Chief Joe Dewees.

“The officer then learned Smith was wanted on a warrant,” Assistant Chief Dewees added. “During the traffic stop evidence of additional crimes were detected.”

Smith was found in possession of a handgun, a syringe, meth, and marijuana.

He was arrested on charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a handgun without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

His passenger, 28-year-old Amanda Lane, of Mitchell, was also arrested after she was found in possession of meth, a syringe, and other drug paraphernalia.

Another passenger was released from the scene.
