Bulldogs stop Stars in consolation

BEDFORD – New Albany conquered Bedford North Lawrence 4-1 in the third-place match of the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs swept the singles as BNL finished fourth in the league for the second straight season.

Mitchell Meyer swept past Adam Tlustek 6-0, 6-0 at No.1, John Fulmer rallied to clip Steven Graham 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in a three-set duel at No.2, and Noah Johnson stopped Graham Turner 6-2, 6-1 at No.3.

The Stars won at No.1 doubles as Konley Woodward and Cameron Gratzer eased past Lukas Knoy and Gavin Hamilton 6-0, 4-6, 7-5. New Albany’s Isaac Sargesser and J.T. Zimmerman rolled Caleb Jones and Nate Pemberton 6-1, 6-0 at No.2

BNL (13-8) will visit Edgewood on Monday.
