There’s Still Time To Request An Absentee Ballot

(BEDFORD) – There is still time for registered voters to request an absentee ballot.

Voters can request an absentee ballot and vote by mail by filling out an application online at www.in.gov/sos/elections, or requesting one through the Lawrence County voter registration office by calling 812-277-2036.

An application will be mailed to the voter, then the voter can send it back and a ballot will be sent to them.

Absentee applications must be returned to the local office by the end of the business day on October 22nd. The deadline to submit absentee ballots is noon on November 3rd.

Both major political parties have mailed out absentee applications to voters. If you have filled one of those out and mailed it back in, there is no need to request a new one.

The voter registration office has moved into its temporary location at the former WorkOne offices at the Courthouse Plaza.

Early voting begins on Oct. 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and until noon on Nov. 2nd. Saturday voting will be from  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24th and Oct. 31st at the Courthouse Plaza or Mitchell Community Building, located at 101 Tom Green Drive.

On Nov. 3, voters can vote at one of six voting centers regardless of where they live.

Voting Centers:

  • Lawrence County Courthouse
  • Parkview Intermediate School gym
  • Needmore Elementary School gym
  • Mitchell Community Building
  • Lawrence County Fairgrounds Expo Hall
  • Bedford North Lawrence High School cafeteria
