No.1 Trinity Lutheran tops BNL

SEYMOUR – Class A No.1 Trinity Lutheran toppled Bedford North Lawrence in three quick sets during high school volleyball action on Thursday night.

The Cougars cruised to a 25-11, 25-13, 25-10 triumph as the Stars (9-5) suffered their third consecutive setback.

Myla Bergman paced the Stars with 23 digs, Annie Waggoner totaled 12 assists and 6 digs, and Carlee Kern had 5 kills for BNL.

“We tried a new lineup,” BNL coach Gabrielle Arthur said. “Myla had an awesome night and Annie worked really hard. We’re working to get our momentum back before the weekend.”

Trinity had two players reach individual career milestones as senior setter Bailey Reynolds went over 2,000 assists and junior libero Kamzi Gross topped 1,000 digs.

The Stars will host the BNL Invitational on Saturday, facing Park Tudor at 9 a.m. and Evansville Mater Dei at 10 a.m. in BNL Fieldhouse. Trinity Lutheran will face Martinsville and Terre Haute South in the auxiliary gym in the six-team event.
