(BEDFORD) – The annual Ugly Duck Derby will be held this Saturday and there is still plenty of time to purchase a ticket.
Buy a ticket for a duck and a have a chance to win $4,000.
The pandemic can not stop these Ugly Ducks. This year the Ugly Duck Derby will be virtual and broadcast live on Facebook this Saturday, September 12th starting at noon.
If you don’t happen to win the $4000, you still have the chance to win over fifty prizes that were donated by local businesses within the community.
“Everyone looks forward to the Ugly Duck Derby each year. The sound of 10,000 ducks swooshing down the slide is always exciting. But with COVID-19 restrictions we knew things would be different. But the community always comes together and I believe they will do the same now. We are very excited to have the top prize of $4,000; who could not use that? In addition they will cover over 50 other prizes to give away,” said Timber Browning, Program Director of Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.

Online ticket purchases will be closed on Saturday at 11 a.m. sharp, so act now.
If you miss the deadline, you can still purchase tickets at the club Saturday morning from 9 am. until 11:45 a.m.
There are actually 2 separate races:
The Yellow Ticket Race: 10,000 tickets/ducks sold to have a chance to win $4000 or 50(+) other great prizes.
These tickets cost:
- 1 duck – $5
- 5 ducks – $20
- 13 ducks – $50
The Blue Ticket Race: Only 100 tickets/ducks sold to have a chance to win $2,500 for first place, $500 for second place, and $100 for third place. These tickets cost $100 each.

The Duck Derby is an important fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County. The club offers several programs, athletics, and supports the youth of Lawrence County of all ages.
The club offers a variety of education programs and after school programming helping children with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and even activities to keep the youth active and physically fit.
