Bridge 107 On Armstrong Station Road Closing Tuesday Afternoon Until Further Notice

(SPRINGVILLE) – Bridge 107, the truss bridge on Armstrong Station Road just off State Road 58, west of Springville, is going to be closed until further notice starting Tuesday, September 1st at 1:00 p.m.

According to Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes, the Highway Department was just notified of this by bridge inspectors this morning and county officials have 48 hours to comply with the closure notice.

“This is a historical select bridge which means any major work or replacement has to be approved by the State Historical Association,” Holmes added. “We have met with an engineering firm on-site and are exploring options on how they can get the bridge reopened.”

Signage will be placed on the bridge posting the closure and permanent barricades will be in place.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and ask that residents be patient as officials work on the solution,” added Holmes.
