Treat a trick as Dogs haunt Stars

NEW ALBANY – New Albany’s Taylor Treat recorded a hat trick while powering the Bulldogs to a 9-0 win over Bedford North Lawrence during girls high school soccer action on the new turf field at New Albany on Saturday afternoon.

Treat scored twice in the first half, while Grace Barber added two goals and two assists.

Treat started the scoring with an unassisted goal just one minute into the match. She scored off a Barber pass just 55 seconds later. Barber’s penalty kick at 35:30 made it 3-0, and Emma Lopp connected off a Layne Burke assist at 31:43 as New Albany went to intermission with a 4-0 lead.

New Albany struck early and often to start the second half as Barber punched home a goal off Lopp’s pass at 38:35, Lopp connected again at 37:02, and Emery Tanksley knocked home a goal at 34:19.

Treat scored unassisted at 30:11, and Clara Worrall capped the offensive outburst at 15:39.

The Stars were limited to five shots.

BNL (0-4, 0-2 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) will host Bloomfield and celebrate Senior Night on Thursday.
