Washington County Sheriff Warns Of Counterfit Money

(WASHINGTON CO) – On August 15th a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill was passed at the Dollar Store in Pekin.

An employee noticed the counterfeit currency and recognized the individual who had passed the currency.

The Washington County Sheriffs Department was notified and Deputy Tory Hildreth responded to the store.

Deputy Hildreth investigated the counterfeit currency and as a result of his investigation, arrested 46-year-old Ronald Mayden, of Pekin, on charges of counterfeiting, a Level 6 felony and possession of a legend drug, a Level 6 felony.

The Marathon Gas Station in Hardinsburg called the Washington County Sheriffs Department today and reported a counterfeit $20 bill had been passed at their location on Wednesday evening.

Sheriff Brent Miller responded to the call and collected the counterfeit currency. Sheriff Miller is urging anyone with information to call him at 812-883-5999
