28 Businesses Receive Portion Of OCRA 2020 COVID-19 Response Program Grant

(BEDFORD) – Brian Skillman, Chair of the Lawrence County COVID-19 Response Grant Committee, announced 28 small businesses have been chosen as recipients of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) 2020 COVID-19 response program grant aimed to support economic development.

“The OCRA grant process has been completed,” said Skillman. “These funds will help retain employees and pay other costs incurred during the pandemic. The full $250,000 Grant will be distributed to county businesses with some receiving a max of $15,000.”

 Those receiving grants can pick up their check starting Wednesday, August 5th -August 7th anytime from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the Lawrence County Courthouse. You are to stop at the courthouse security desk and ask for them to contact the County Auditor’s office to bring your check out to you.

You will need to show I.D. and sign the receipt form to receive the check.  By signing the receipt form you are agreeing to provide the following info to Skillman for the next two years, which is stated on the form:

Reporting Requirements (Submitted Yearly for a period of two years):

  • Status of each business awarded.
  • Change in the number of jobs for each business awarded.
  • Any notes from the business owner about the program.
  • Businesses that do not retain the expected number of employees or go out of business will have to provide documentation of what happened.
  • Information will be submitted to the Lawrence County Human Resources Director

Skillman personally sent his deep appreciation to the committee members who volunteered their valuable time and efforts.
