ISP Inmate’s Death Investigated As Homicide

(CARLISLE) — An inmate death at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle is being investigated as a homicide.

Indiana State Investigators report foul play is suspected in the death of 57-year-old Kevin Carpenter of Churubusco. He had been an inmate at Wabash Valley since February 2011.

According to state police, members of the Wabash Valley Correctional staff found Carpenter unresponsive in his cell at 5:40 a.m. Sunday. First aid was given, but Carpenter did not survive.

An autopsy was conducted Monday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, those results are pending.
