Traffic Switches Planned This Week On I-65 In Jackson And Bartholomew Counties

(JACKSON/BARTHOLOMEW CO.) – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving Inc. plans to switch traffic on northbound and southbound I-65 this week as progress continues on the $143 million reconstructions and added travel lanes project between Seymour and Columbus.

Traffic switches are planned on Wednesday and Friday nights (July 8 and 10), weather permitting.

The switch Wednesday night will move northbound traffic back to the northbound side of I-65 from MM 50 to MM 56, north of Seymour. Traffic from MM 50 to MM 53.6 will have a full shoulder on the newly-constructed northbound side. Traffic from MM 53.6 to MM 56 will have a partial shoulder, as construction work continues in the area.

The switch Friday night will shift southbound traffic to the newly-constructed northbound side of I-65 from MM 53.6 to MM 56, putting both directions of traffic on the northbound side of I-65. This configuration will allow for concrete paving to be completed on southbound I-65 between MM 53.6 to MM 56, in addition to permanent striping and other work on the job site.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free through the entire work zone. Drivers should adhere to the 55 mph speed restriction and trucks should continue to use the left lane for travel. The project began in 2018 and is expected to be complete in mid-August. All work is weather dependent.
