Obituary: Pastor Kenneth Z. Ransom

March 29, 1943 – June 28, 2020

Pastor Kenneth Z. Ransom, 77, of Bedford passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at his residence.
Born March 29, 1943 in Jeffersonville and raised in Doolittle Mills, IN he was the son of Shelby and Iola (Saddler) Ransom.  He married Deborah “Debby” Holmes at the Avoca Baptist Church on August 4, 1967 and she survives.

Pastor Ken was a graduate of Oil Township High School with the class of 1961. After high school he received his Batchelor’s Degree at Oakland City University and went on to get his Master’s Degree at Indiana University.

Pastor Ken retired as Senior Pastor of Crossroads Community Church after 40 years of ministry and was a schoolteacher and coach in the North Lawrence Community Schools.  During his teaching career he taught at Needmore High School, Bedford-North Lawrence High School, Needmore Elementary, Fayetteville Elementary and Springville Elementary Schools.

Surviving in addition to his wife Debby Ransom are: son, Barry (Jennifer) Ransom; daughter, Missy (Jeff Key) Simpson; grandchildren, Ashlé (Derrick) Stalder, Scotty (Amanda) Simpson, Grant Simpson, Lizzy (Griffin) Williams, Gabbie (Andrew) Carrico, Noah Ransom, and Reiken Isom; siblings, Ed Ransom, Linda Gibson and Roberta Gibson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Ransom.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Crossroads Community Church with Brother Jeff Williams & Pastor Lyndon Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Crossroads Community Church.
