(BEDFORD) – The Limestone 5K Run and Walk will be held on July 18 at 8 a.m. This a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Due to COVID-19, there will be numerous changes this year. The race will be limited to the first 150 entrants and all registration will be done online or over the phone.
The race will be a wave start.
“We will have 15 waves of 10 or fewer participants, starting approximately 10 seconds apart. Each wave will be 10 feet apart. This will allow social distancing at the start,” said Dr. Jim Sowders, Race Director.
The starting line will be marked with your wave number and runners will be required to stay in their wave area and gradually (every 10 seconds) move forward to the next wave mark.
There will be no post-race awards ceremony this year, all participants will receive their awards at the finish line.
New this year is a hands-free finish line. The results will be emailed and posted as soon as possible. There will be water and Gatorade on the course at two-mile mark. It is encouraged that you bring your own post-race refreshments.
No run outs will be allowed, so officials ask that runners finish their warmups 10 minutes prior to race time.
Participants must be at your wave line by 7:50 a.m. The first will start at 8 a.m. and the last wave will go off at 8:02:30 a.m. If you are competing for the overall male or female win, please indicate it and include a time on your entry. You can request up to two people to run with, but all participants must request the same people. This request is not guaranteed.
Please note, that depending on federal, state, and local rules, and The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County, The Limestone 5K Run and Walk decisions, the race may be canceled.
