Seymour Area Farmers Market Opens Saturday

(SEYMOUR) – The Seymour Area Farmers Market, sponsored by Schneck Medical Center, will open for the season on Saturday.

The market will be open from 8 a.m. until noon in the Walnut Street parking lot, located just south of the railroad tracks behind the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour.

The market will also be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays.

The market will run through the last Saturday in September.

Customers can expect several changes to protect their and vendors’ health and safety to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Drive-thru service is available for handicapped customers, the elderly, and others who are not comfortable entering the market. These customers can enter the market on the south side of the parking lot near the handicap parking area and follow the signs to a greeter, who will take their order.

Only products deemed essential will be available, and customers are asked to not linger, but purchase needed items and leave, allowing other customers to make purchases.

Social distancing measures will be implemented. Vendors will be spaced 10 feet apart. Pavement markings will be in place to help customers keep a safe distance.

Two hand-washing stations will be available. All vendors will be required to wear face masks and have hand sanitizer available at their booths.

Customers are encouraged to wear masks, but it is not required.
