Beam Setting Planned Tonight and Tomorrow Over I-65 In Jackson County

(JACKSON CO.) – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving Inc. will begin beam setting operations tonight (May 26) on U.S. 31 over I-65 in Jackson County as part of a superstructure replacement project. The overpass is located between Uniontown and Seymour.

Beginning tonight, intermittent stoppages will take place on I-65 while bridge beams are placed over the interstate. Stoppages will last up to 20 minutes at a time. Northbound traffic will be stopped tonight and southbound tomorrow (May 27) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route or allow extra time to avoid delays.

U.S. 31 will remain closed at this location through late July until the project is completed. The official detour route will remain U.S. 50 to I-65 at Exit 36 (Crothersville).

Motorists should slow down, watch for stopped traffic, and drive distraction-free through the work zone. The completion date for the entire contract, including the bridge deck overlay further north on U.S. 31 over Mutton Ditch Creek, is September 30, 2020. All work is weather dependent.
