(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was arrested Friday morning after Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Marathon gas station in the 3900 block of Old State Road 37 after a report of a male locked in the bathroom.
“The employees were afraid the male had suffered a possible medical issue and was not responding to requests to open the door,” said Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults. “Officers arrived and were unable to gain entry into the restroom and there was no response from the person inside.”
Officers were able to force the door open and found 32-year-old Dev Singh asleep inside and medical personnel were called to the scene.
“Singh was found to be intoxicated,” said Chief Shoults. “He refused transport by ambulance and was placed under arrest and transported to IU Health Bedford by an officer where several hours later he was medically cleared and then transported to jail on a charge of public intoxication.”
