Showing Support For Staff Working At Department Of Correction Facilities

(NEW CASTLE) – To show support and appreciation for employees working in correctional facilities, members of the department of correction Staff Development & Training (SD&T) team are visiting correctional facilities across Indiana.  And they arrive bearing gifts of IDOC logo wear and family gift baskets.

Baskets were created at the Correctional Training Institute and then disbursed for delivery to each facility.

This is part of the effort to offer thanks and appreciation for all the important and essential work performed by correctional staff at each correctional facility to maintain a safe and clean environment for offenders and staff.  Because it is more than a saying, as we truly are all #INthistogether.

During the first week SD&T gave away IDOC-related T-shirts and goodie bags. Next week staff from different IDOC facilities will have a chance to take home a “Family” basket of goodies.  Each basket contains items for the whole family to enjoy. These will be given out to lucky custody members while non-custody staff has a chance to receive a DNR state park pass.

Puzzles, games, sidewalk chalk and more were included in the family baskets.

While there continues to be much uncertainty for employees in all walks of life, leadership with the IDOC wants to ensure all of our employees know they are a valued member of the team.  Offering support for one another through this program is just one tangible way to demonstrate appreciation for the many unsung heroes.  Heroes who are doing their part to keep correctional facilities safe for offenders and staff alike as we work through this challenging time for our country.
