Bedford Lions Club Annual Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk Scheduled Virtually For May 2

(BEDFORD) – The 2020 Bedford Lions Club Annual Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 8 a.m. The race will now be held virtually.

The Bedford Lions Club Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk has raised much-needed funds for many Lions Club projects, including the Life Food Pantry for many years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s race, along with the annual Lions Club Pancake Festival, has been postponed.

Without the proceeds from these two events, the Lions Clubs’ philanthropic endeavors will be greatly curtailed.

Race director Jim Sowders has decided to hold this year’s race virtually. This will be a no-frills virtual race with no t-shirts, and no age group awards. All finishers will receive a virtual stack of all you can eat pancakes and a side of sausage.

The entry fee is $10 (higher donations are accepted). Make checks payable to Bedford Lions Club and mail or bring to Race Director Dr. Jim Sowders at 1615 O Street, Bedford, IN 47421.

The race will start at 8 a.m. April 18th (the original starting time and date) and you have until May 2 at noon (the original date and ending time of the Pancake Festival) to finish.

Proceeds of the race will help support Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor Blessings in a Backpack Program and other Lions Club Community Projects.
