Traffic Signal Modernization Begins Today in Lawrence County

(LAWRENCE CO.) – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces daytime lane restrictions in Mitchell and Bedford for traffic signal modernization.

Beginning today, contractors will begin working on a traffic signal modernization project to upgrade traffic signals at various locations in Mitchell and Bedford. This project will upgrade the traffic signals at these locations to the latest safety and visibility standards. Four locations total will receive upgrades, the first of which will be at State Road 37 and S.R. 60 West. Upon completion, crews move to the next location. The locations scheduled to follow are State Road 37 and U.S. 50 West (southern junction), State Road 37 and State Road 58 east, and State Road 37 and Patton Hill Road.

During the project, crews will utilize temporary lane closures of about 1,500 feet in either direction of the signal with traffic controlled by flaggers. Work is expected to last until mid-July
