Martin County Task Force Makes Preparations Dealing With Coronavirus Issues

(MARTIN CO.) – Local Martin County leaders and officials met on Tuesday and Wednesday to forge a Martin County Coronavirus Task Force.

Representatives from, but not limited to, the Martin County Commissioners, the City of Loogootee, Loogootee Police Department, the Town of Shoals, local schools, county health officials, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Management, Civil Defense, EMS, and fire services are included in the Task Force.

The purpose of the Task Force is to attempt to forecast potential problems, align human and material resources, and to improve self-sufficiency at a local government level should the need arise.

Additionally, this local alignment will better position Martin County to work in concert with state and government officials. These sorts of round table discussions are applicable to other events as well, such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods.

Local leaders adamantly believe it is prudent to prepare and discourage panic.
