(BLOOMINGTON) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported the spillway parking lot also known as the cutout, will be closing on March 23, 2020.
The area is closing because officials say over the course of two years, there has been more than $15,000 worth of vandalism done to the property.
Trash cans have been blown up, people have been cutting the lock to the gate, tables and trash cans have been thrown into the lake, vehicles driven off-road are tearing up the ground, and the tables have been lit on fire.
Those visiting the area can still walk out and enjoy the area but they will have to park on either side of the tailwater area.
