Bartholomew County Death Investigation Team Investigating Shooting Death

(COLUMBUS) – Columbus Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting death in the southeastern part of the city.

On Wednesday at 11:15 p.m., officers were called to the store parking lot of Tool Dynamics, at 835 Marr Road, after a report of a man injured and bleeding in the parking lot from a gunshot wound.

Authorities have identified the victim as 37-year-old Leonardo Rodriguez-Flores, of Columbus. He died from his injury. An autopsy was performed on Friday.

The Rodriguez-Flores’s vehicle, a silver 1998 Honda Civic, was found in a parking lot in the 2700 block of State Street.

The Bartholomew County Death Investigation Team is asking for the public’s help.

Any business or homeowner in the area with security cameras or those that have information about the shooting are asked to contact the Columbus Police Department at 812-376-2600. Tips and information can be left anonymously.

This case is the second deadly shooting in Columbus this year, which is unusual for the city.

In a different case last month, Derek Henderson was shot and killed after allegedly breaking into a man’s home with a baseball bat.

Bartholomew County Prosecutor William Nash says murders in Columbus are rare, with the city averaging less than one a year.
