Police Investigating Stabbing In Pekin

(PEKIN) – Washington County Sheriff’s Department detectives are investigating a stabbing that happened on Saturday morning in Pekin.

Deputies were called to an apartment on East Karnes Court at 11:23 a.m. after a report of two men fighting.

When deputies arrived they spoke with 38-year-old Jacob Crady who had been involved in the altercation with another male.

Officias say that the other male lives in another apartment complex on East Karnes Court.

Crady told police the other male named “Dustin” had aggressively approached him with a hammer.

Crady told police he stabbed “Dustin” with a pocket knife in self-defense.

Crady also says “Dustin” then got into his vehicle and left the scene.

While deputies were taking a statement from Crady, deputies received information that 32-year-old Dustin Brading, also of Pekin, was at St. Vincent Salem Hospital being treated for a non-life threatening stab wound.

Salem Police Major Eric Mills responded to the hospital to speak to Brading. He refused to cooperate and give police a statement on what happened.

Captain Joe Keltner is investigating the altercation and is being assisted by Mills and Reserve Officer Jacob Silverthorn.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Those who witnessed the altercation are asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Department at 812-883-5999 and speak with Captain Joe Keltner.
