Governor Holcomb to Headline NFIB Small Business Day

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Gov. Eric Holcomb will be among the speakers NFIB’s Small Business Day today.

Small Business Day will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel with a briefing from State Director Barbara Quandt about the latest on small business issues at the Capitol.

At 11 a.m., Gov. Holcomb will give the keynote address. After lunch, starting at 12:30, Quandt will give small business owners an overview of the 2020 elections. She’ll be joined by Michael Leppert and Michael McDaniel of Krieg DeVault LLP. Afterward, members will head to the capitol to share their small business stories with local lawmakers.

Indiana’s legislative session started January 6th and lawmakers have been busy as they work their way through legislation that could have a big impact on small business.

NFIB’s top legislative issues this year include lowering the cost of health care, preventing unemployment tax increases and worker misclassification legislation, and opposing employer mandates such as a minimum wage increase and paid leave. You can read more about the issues here.

“Many small business owners already provide leave or personal time which employees may use for a variety of reasons. They offer flexible schedules and time off to retain hard workers. For most of Indiana’s small business owners, employees are like family. They don’t need a mandated program to take care of their workers. Small Business Day is the perfect opportunity for our small business owners to share their stories with lawmakers and explain how these bad policies could be devastating to their businesses,” said NFIB State Director in Indiana, Barbara Quandt.
