Monroe Co. YMCA Spring Run to be Held at Northwest Y on Sat., Apr. 4

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Monroe County YMCA is hosting their annual Spring Run on Saturday, April 4, 2020, starting at 8 am.

The event raises money for the Y for All Annual Campaign, which helps support families and individuals who need financial assistance with their Y membership, program, and Summer Camp fees.

This is the first year for the 10K route to be offered at the Northwest Y location at 1375 N. Wellness Way, Bloomington, IN 47404.

“We’re incredibly excited to revive the 10K portion of our Spring Run,” said Margie Kobow, the Y Healthy Hearts and Active Lives director and coordinator of the Spring Run event. “Bloomington offers unique challenges with its hilly terrain. But, I know several enthusiastic runners and walkers who are looking forward to the challenge and ready to join this year’s race while raising funds for a great cause!”

The Spring Run is sponsored by Herald-Times, Greene & Schultz Trial Lawyers, and Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry.

Prizes will be awarded to top participants for each age group.

The Kids Adventure Fun Run is open to children ages 3 and up and will begin at 8:05 am. Children will run one lap around the outside trail around the Northwest Y (0.9 miles).

Children ages 6-12 who are looking for a bigger challenge are encouraged to join “Run for Fun,” a Y program that teaches youth the importance of stretching, an effective warm-up, pacing, hydration, and a good cool down. The program is held from February 25 through April 2 with the goal of competing in the Spring Run. More information about the “Run for Fun” program can be found here: www.monroecountyymca.org/youth-sports/run-fun

Registration for the Spring Run is currently open, and discounted entry rates are available until March 31. Online registration closes on April 1, and fees increase for day-of registrations. All participants who register prior to March 1 are guaranteed a t-shirt. To learn more or to register, please visit www.monroecountyymca.org/spring-run
