Rep. Banks Seeks High Schools to Participate in 2020 Congressional Art

(UNDATED)  – Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today announced that he is seeking 3rd district high school students to participate in the 2020 Congressional Art Competition.

Congressman Jim Banks

“This is a wonderful opportunity for young, Hoosier artists,” said Banks. “Many of our students will benefit from the experience of reflecting on the meaning of patriotism and their feelings towards the United States and northeast Indiana. Plus, one lucky and the talented winner will see their art displayed in the halls of Congress. I hope every high school in the 3rd district gives their students the opportunity to participate.”

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and a panel of judges select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.  The winner will also receive two free airline tickets compliments of Southwest Airlines to fly from Indianapolis to Washington, D.C. to attend the national reception.

If you or your school will be entering, please let Rep. Banks’ staff know so we can stay up to date on who is participating. Please email Kathie.Green@mail.house.gov or call the District Office at (260) 702-4750.

Banks’ Office is able to pick up entries your school would like to enter but we will need to schedule your pick up in advance. Please call Kathie Green at 260-702-4750 to schedule a pickup.
