West Boggs Park Conducting Survey

(LOOGOOTEE) – West Boggs Park is conducting a survey for those wishing to voice their opinions regarding needs and desires relative to the park’s future.

West Boggs Lake

The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and the results will be used to help fashion the park’s five-year plan. Interested persons can go to www.surveymonkey.com/r/LMZ2FMM.

Grant funding is essential for the sustainability of the park, and a plan must be completed with public input before any grant can be approved.

The park will be implementing the numerous projects in the next 2-3 years thanks to a $250,000 Land Water Conservation Grant. Other grant funding is also being sought to improve the park.

The park updated its sewer lift station in 2018. The major project required saving money and securing grant funding. Accommodation revenues have increased steadily since 2015, and last year’s total was $831,000.

The Accommodation Revenue helped with a more recent playground located at the beach.

The revenue is generated through gate receipts, accommodations revenue, and money raised by special events. No tax dollars are provided to the park although Daviess County assumes administrative responsibilities of approving budget and monitoring of expenditures to ensure accounting is in compliance with the State Board of Accounts regulations.

In 2020, new courtesy docks were installed at the boat ramp.

  • New Fish Cleaning Station
  • Solar Street Lighting at boat ramp

2021 – Electrical upgrades of Racoon Camping Section

  • Rehab of the Park Roads

2022 – New fishing pier was installed at Redbud Shelter

  • Outdoor Concrete Ping Pong Table and Activity Center.

The Daviess and Martin County Community Foundation assisted with the complete rebuilding of the West Boggs Gatehouse.
