Wings: Women in Nature Gaining Skills Launching Jan. 19

(BLOOMINGTON) -Women In Nature Gaining Skills (WINGS) is a new program designed to get women outdoors in the Brown, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan, and Owen county areas and is launching Jan. 19th.

The goal of WINGS is to encourage and empower women with the skills and confidence to partake in outdoor recreation.

Research shows that women feel more comfortable learning skills from other women. Therefore, this is a collaborative effort between female outdoor professionals in the Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife (Bloomington office), Indiana State Parks (Monroe Lake), Hoosier National Forest (Brownstown District), Monroe County Parks and Recreation, and the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.

WINGS events take place on the 3rd Sunday of each month at a designated location. Events are focused on teaching women, 16 years of age and older, about outdoor skills using hands-on training. The goal is to build a community for women interested in outdoor recreation.

All events are FREE but have limited space.

The full WINGS schedule for all of 2020 is posted on the Events tab at facebook.com/SCINWINGS/
