Police Vehicle Involved in Accident

(BEDFORD) – A Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department officer was involved in an accident while responding to a call early Monday morning.

According to a Bedford Police report, Officer Joshua Rhoades was traveling with his lights and sirens on responding to a call when he struck a vehicle in the driver’s side door.

Bedford Police say Rhoades was traveling west in the department’s 2015 White Ford Explorer on 15th Street and stopped at the intersection of 15th and J streets and then proceeded through the intersection.

At the same time, 50-year-old Kimberly Rizzi, who was driving a 1999 Chrysler Concorde, was traveling south on J Street and told police she heard the sirens but couldn’t tell where it was coming from and was struck by the police vehicle in the driver’s door.

No one was injured in the accident.
