Julie Johnson Hewetson Seeking Re-Election for County Council At-Large Seat

(BEDFORD) – Julie Johnson Hewetson is seeking re-election as a Republican nominee for the Lawrence County Council at-large seat.

Hewetson is currently serving in a four-year term on the Lawrence County Council. She was the Vice President of the Council in 2018 and the President of the Council in 2019.

Hewetson has been on the Council’s Salary Committee for the last three years where she served as a liaison to the Lawrence County Clerk and Prosecutor’s Office.

She retired from Mitchell Community Schools where she worked for thirty-seven years as a junior high teacher, coach, and high school guidance counselor. Although Hewetson was born and raised in Bedford, her years of teaching have fostered a true affinity for the Mitchell community and her former students.

As a life-long resident of Lawrence County, she is devoted to making decisions that serve to improve our county. Hewetson promises to hold the county departments accountable for all expenditures and to thoughtfully approach each meeting and vote keeping in mind the county’s needs and best interests.

Hewetson serves as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA), a volunteer role in which she is appointed to advise the Court as to the best interests of children, serves on the Stone Gate Executive Board and is an active member of Bedford Tri Kappa. In her leisure, she enjoys spending time with her two children, Barron and Anah, and her four grandchildren. She also loves to travel and attend sporting events.

Hewetson takes her position on the council seriously and is devoted to attending the meetings. She would sincerely appreciate your vote and the opportunity to continue to serve Lawrence County in this capacity for another four-year term.
