No Students Injured in Early Morning Bus Crash

(PEKIN) – Monday at approximately 6:47 a.m., the Washington County Sheriffs Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Franklin School Road and Conway Church Road.

No students on the bus when the accident occurred. There were no injuries reported.

The crash involved a pickup truck and a school bus from the East Washington School Corporation.

Evidence at the scene and driver statements indicated that a Ford F-350 was being driven southbound on Franklin School Road when the driver came to the three-way stop at the intersection of Conway Church Road.

The driver of the pick-up failed to yield the right of way, in this morning’s accident according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department

At that time, the school bus was eastbound on Conway Church Road. The driver of the Ford pickup failed to yield the right of way and proceeded into the intersection, where the pickup was struck by the school bus.

There were no injuries reported and there were no children on board the school bus at the time of the crash.

Deputy Lucas Gray is investigating the crash and was assisted by the Pekin Town Marshal, Washington County EMS and members of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
