NLCS Attorney Responds To Public Access Counselor Opinion

(BEDFORD) – The attorney for North Lawrence Community Schools responded to the opinion of the Public Access Counselor.

Jason Johnson of Indian Creek Road filed a complaint in November claiming the North Lawrence Community School board members, including Dr. Ty Mungle, violated the Open Door Law.

The public access counselor ruled that North Lawrence Community Schools did violate the Open Door Law and suggested that the Visionary Committee was created to circumvent the Open Door Law.

In a press release, School Attorney Greg Pittman respectively disagreed with that opinion and used other case law to validate his opinion.

Some of those who attended the school board meeting on Monday evening are looking for options including an injunction to stop the consolidation from moving forward.

WBIW also requested the names of the Visionary Committee Members which the North Lawrence Community Schools has not released at this time.
