(MITCHELL) – Barbara Spencer, of Bedford, was the winner of the Mitchell Opera House Live Talent Showcase.
Spencer, 87, landed $1,000 by beating out seven other contestants with her 12 minute piano rendition of “Bumble Boogie,” “Root Beer Rag,” Malaguena” and a version of “Rhapsody in Blue”.
Dwight Cox, of Milltown, placed second with a vocal and guitar production.
Other contestants included:
- Haley Chase, of Bedford, danced.
- Jordan River Crossing, of Bloomington, sang acapella.
- Kameron Gumaelius, of New Pekin, sang and played the guitar.
- Angel Gabbard, of Bloomfield, sang.
- Gustyn Wright, of Taswell, played the banjo.
The event was sponsored by Hoosier Uplands, Root’s RV, Holmes Hardware and Rainbow Printing.
