Stone City FOP 94 Brings Holiday Cheer to Area Children with 2019 Shop With A Cop

(BEDFORD ) – The Stone City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94 brought Holiday cheer to area children during the 2019 Shop With A Cop event at Walmart.

Several area police officers took area youngsters shopping on Saturday morning. This included members from the Bedford and Mitchell Police Departments, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police Bloomington Post, and Indiana Conservation officers.

Many of the children commented on how neat it was to be shopping with a police officer.

“This is also a great community policing tool,” said Officer Kody Emmons, President of the Stone City FOP.

“We were able to add more children to our list this year thanks to the many businesses, organizations, and individuals that donated to this wonderful program,” Emmons added. “Some businesses like Anytime Fitness held a Train the Trainer which proceeds went to this event. Our FOP also supports athletic programs if children can not participate due to financial reasons or can’t purchase needed sports equipment. We try to support many organizations; especially those that target youth.”

Walmart employees helped with the event in addition to officials from the Dollar General Store on John Williams Blvd. Golden Corral also served breakfast to all of the officers and their families.

Santa also made an appearance and spoke to the children.
