Police Release Name of Driver in Fatal Accident in Brownsburg

(BROWNSBURG) – The name has been released in the fatal accident in Brownsburg.

According to the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office, investigators responded to two separate incidents of a vehicle colliding with a train in Brownsburg late Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Police were first called out to the 6900 block of North County Road 900 East at approximately 11:45 p.m. They say they discovered a 2017 Jeep that hit the side a moving CSX train. The driver of the Jeep was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Then just before 12:30 a.m., deputies were alerted to another crash involving the same train a little further down the railway where it intersects with County Road 700N. They found a 2008 Lincoln SUV had been driven into the stopped train. The driver of the SUV was killed. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office has identified that driver as 43-yer-old Dennis Swanson, of Brownsburg.

Police say the cause of the first crash was caused by the driver not paying attention. They are still trying to figure out the cause of the second crash.
