Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals Approves Parking Waiver

(BEDFORD) – The Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals approved a waiver of parking restrictions for a downtown business located at 802 16th Street.

The building, owned by Amber Chastain and Shelley Kenworthy, will be home to a cafe, health spa, and have two apartments in the rear.

Marc Cornett, the architect on the project spoke during Tuesday’s meeting. Under the existing zoning, off-street parking would have been required for the proposed business. Currently, the business only has 13 parking spaces.

Laura Dusard, owner of the property at 1107 and 1105 N Street which is Zoned R-2, requested to change the property line so she could sell the house at 1105 N Street. The problem, involving changing the property line, would violate the setback and parking requirements.

The board approved the line set back change, however, they denied the parking waiver. Dusard will have to make some adjustments to the property to be in compliance with the parking requirements.
