Rural Traffic Stop Lands Four in Jail After Police Find Heroin

(LITTLE YORK) – A late-night, rural patrol and traffic stop ended with the arrest of four individuals on various charges.

On Monday at approximately 10:27 p.m. Trooper Kyle Taylor was patrolling on county roads in rural Washington County in the area of Little York.  Trooper Taylor initiated a traffic stop on a purple 1997 Chevrolet Camaro for a stop sign violation.

During the stop, the driver was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license, and Trooper Taylor continued the investigation, requesting the assistance of Deputy Paul Ginkins and his K9 partner, Lenny. 

During the search, officers found approximately 3 grams of heroin in the vehicle along with several hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia.

The following were arrested:

Daniel Abner

Daniel Abner, 34, of Madison, on a charge of driving while driver’s license suspended with a prior conviction.

Travis Hill

Travis Hill, 30, of Little York, on dealing in heroin, possession of heroin, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, visiting a common nuisance.

Tayah Harris

Tayah Harris, 20, of Riverview, FL:  unlawful possession of a syringe, visiting a common nuisance, possession of drug paraphernalia,

Anna Smith

Anna Smith, 23, of Scottsburg, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, visiting a common nuisance.
