Obituary: Janet Kaye Staggs

December 8, 1940 – November 26, 2019

Janet Kaye Staggs, 78, of Bedford passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, after a short battle with cancer.

Born December 8, 1940, in Ada, Minnesota, she was the daughter of James and Florence Inga (Berg) Montieth. She was a graduate of East Grand Forks High School with the class of 1958. She married Douglas A. Staggs and he preceded her in death in 1991. She had worked many jobs including On-Line Plastics, The United States Forestry Department, and Hoosier Uplands Energy Assistance Program. She loved God, her family and enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include her long-time partner, Russell “Roy” Trueblood; her sister, Molly Sawyer; her brother, Michael Wichern; her children, Bruce A.

Staggs, Nickkiah Staggs, Shawn Staggs, MacKenzie Staggs, Leahmarie J. Staggs-Martin (companion, Luke Jarvis), Douglas F. Staggs, Mathew D. Staggs, Randall A. Staggs, Heather M. (Zack) Payton, Asia Mohler, Chyna Mohler, Isaiah Davis, Jordan Davis, Justin Mohler, Jeremy D. (Stephanie) Carmichael, Eric (Megan) Carmichael, Waverly A. Carmichael, Keith D. Mundy, Kendra D. Mundy, and Kassandra D. Mundy; step-grandchildren, Gene L. (Ellen) Staggs, Leona F. (Kevin) Jones, Dannie M. (Trish) Staggs; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Keaton, Sophie, Daniel, LilyAnne, Jake, Ivy, Mat Jr., Aydyn, Jaylen, Beau, Maisie, Gracelyn, Lucas, Remington, Ruby, Grace, Jathon, Payton, Jaylin, Conrad, Ava, Jazlynn, Addyson, Klayton, Keenly, Hailie, and Kyson; many friends, relatives, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, David and DuWayne Montieth; a sister, Bonnie; two sons, Roger O. and William H. Staggs.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Hillenburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 29th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, November 30th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
