Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Announces 2019 Partner of the Year Award to OneAmerica

(INDIANAPOLIS) – OneAmerica has been named the 2019 Junior Achievement of Central Indiana (JA) Corporate Partner of the Year for their outstanding work in propelling the JA mission forward in our local community. Each year a corporate partner is recognized by JA for their commitment to educating and inspiring children in the areas of career exploration, employability/life skills, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

“This award recognizes the strong relationship JA and OneAmerica have built based on the mutual desire to make a difference in the lives of our local youth. OneAmerica is a role model partner through their involvement across our entire spectrum of kindergarten through high school programs. We are grateful to share a similar vision and have their support,” states Jennifer Burk, President and CEO of JA.

In the fall of 2018, OneAmerica opened a storefront, nicknamed OneAmerica 2.0, at JA BizTown. Fifth-grade students practice nearly every aspect of running a city while at JA BizTown from operating a bank and electing a mayor to plan and saving for their retirement at OneAmerica.

In addition to exposing students to the world of financial savings while at JA BizTown, OneAmerica is a top volunteer partner for Junior Achievement with nearly 100 OA employees volunteering annually at two local schools they support with JA curriculum, at JA JobSpark, and at JA BizTown. In addition to supporting JA’s spectrum of programming, Gene Berry, OneAmerica senior vice president, and chief information officer, serves on the Board of Directors.

“We strongly support the mission of Junior Achievement to promote financial literacy, career exploration, and life skills for today’s students,” said Gene Berry, senior vice president, and chief information officer for OneAmerica.  “Our associates are enthusiastically volunteering and enjoy working with students and the focused curriculum provided through JA and its many programs.”
