Mobile Home Destroyed By Fire

(MITCHELL) – The Marion Township, Huron and Mitchell fire departments responded to a mobile home fire at 2:35 p.m. Thursday in the 4210 block of Stonington Road after a neighbor reported the fire.

According to Marion Twp. Fire Department Fire Chief Paul Gilespie, the residence was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within thirty minutes. A total of  19 firefighters, four fire engines, and three support vehicles responded to the blaze from the three departments.

While firefighters were attempting to extinguish the blaze, powerlines were arcing which prevented them from doing an aggressive attack on the fire. The firefighters had to wait until crews from Orange County REMC arrived on the scene to disconnect the power.

The fire remains under investigation and firefighters were able to leave the scene around 5:45 p.m.
