Victims Identified in Fatal Martinsville Fire

(MARTINSVILLE) – The Morgan County Coroner has identified the three victims of a fatal mobile home fire in Martinsville.

According to the officials, 54-year-old Ricky Burchett, of Martinsville, was killed in the fire. He was identified using dental records, according to Morgan County Coroner Annette Butcher. Also killed was 39-year-old David Fouts, and 40-year-old Melissa White, also of Martinsville. They were identified on Friday.

Fouts owned the mobile home involved in the blaze.

Martinsville Fire Department firefighters were alerted to the mobile home fire on South Otter Drive at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, near State Road 37 and South Ohio Street.

Firefighters arrived to find the mobile home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters later discovered three bodies inside.

Officials have not determined the cause of the fire but did say it spread quickly. Firefighters found two space heaters that were being used to heat the trailer but there is no confirmation that the heaters caused the fire.

The state fire marshal is assisting in the investigation.
