IU Student Arrested after Biting Employee at Nick’s English Hut

(BLOOMINGTON) – A 19-year-old IU student was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly bit one employee and knocked another down a flight of stairs at Nick’s English Hut.

Bloomington Police arrested Michael Oliver on charges of battery, resisting arrest, public intoxication and minor in possession of alcohol.

Bloomington Police Department responded to the bar at 12:41 a.m. after a report of a fight at the bar.

According to police, a Nick’s employee told police they found Oliver in a restricted area of the bar and asked him to leave. Oliver became violent and put the employee in a headlock and then bit that employee on the hand when he attempted to get free, breaking the skin and causing him to bleed.

Police say when another employee attempted to help, Oliver swung his arms and struck that employee causing him to fall down a flight of stairs.

When officers arrived on the scene, the employees had Oliver pinned to the ground.

When an officer went to handcuff Oliver he shoved that officer and tried to wrestle the officer to the ground.

Oliver was taken into custody and was transported to the Monroe County Jail.
