RSVP Names Sarah Spalding and Barb Holder Volunteers of the Year

(WASHINGTON) – Nearly 400 Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participants were honored for their service to Daviess and Martin County Monday during the 46th Annual Recognition Celebration at the Washington Park Community Building.

In the last year, 392 volunteers age 55 and donated more than 103,494 hours in Daviess and Martin counties.

RSVP Board President Betty Huelsman recognized the volunteers of the year.

Sarah Spalding

Spalding has been part of RSVP for eight years and has tallied 4,096 hours of service. She has worked on veterans projects, RSVP food preparation projects and is active in her church where she helps plan funeral meals and sings in the choir. She also volunteers with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the St. Vincent’s Food Pantry.

Barb Holder

Holder, a 16-year member of RSVP, has done almost every RSVP project offered and has collected 3,872 hours of service. She has worked on food projects, is a pen pal. and is a member of the Healthy Steps for Older Adults Fall Prevention Team. Holder also helps with vision screenings, is active in her church and serves on the RSVP board.

Lydia Graber was honored for 20 years of volunteer work and Polly Mead was honored for 25 years.
