Barn Raising Saturday at BNL FFA Farm Canceled Due to Rain

(BEDFORD) – The North Lawrence County Career Center barn raising on Saturday has been canceled due to the forecast of heavy rain on Saturday.

The event will be held next Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the BNL FFA Farm.

The North Lawrence FFA chapter and the North Lawrence County Career Center received a grant from Byer Fund and America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education to build the new barn.

Volunteers are needed to help hang metal and to install doors and windows. All current and former FFA members and their families along with community supporters of FFA are invited.

Officials say the barn will be used for a chicken and egg-producing program and to house calves.

In addition to construction tasks, throughout the day, there will be other activities including:

  • 8 a.m. – Light breakfast
  • 11 a.m. – Lunch, followed by Agriculture Olympics
  • 2 p.m. – Cake Walk
  • 4 p.m. – “Snowless Snowball” Fight

There will be door prize drawings and craft sales throughout the day.

Students will be selling FFA T-shirts (designed by them), beef jerky, and crafts. Proceeds will support their senior trip in the spring.

Those interested in participating should contact teachers Logan Felts or Beth Felts by sending an email to feltsl@nlcs.k12.in.us or feltsb@nlcs.k12.in.us or call 812-279-3561.
