Northeast Recycling Center Accepting Food Waste In Partnership with Green Camino

(BLOOMINGTON) – If you cannot compost at your residence or do not wish to you can sign up with Green Camino and receive a compost bucket.

Bring food waste and recyclables to the Northeast Recycling Center in Monroe County. The rural recycling center in New Unionville is piloting a food waste collection program.

Food waste in landfills creates methane gas that adds to climate change. Forty percent of the municipal waste stream is compostable. Save money on food waste disposal. Reduced methane gas in landfills means better overall health for you and your community. Turn food waste into fertile soil.

Once your bucket is full of unusable food waste, drop it off at the Monroe County Waste Management District’s Northeast Recycling Center in New Unionville. Open every day from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. closed Thursdays and Sundays.

The Northeast Recycling center is located off East State Road 45 off East Bethel Lane.
