Burn Ban Remains In Effect For Lawrence County

(SILVERVILLE) – A burn ban remains in effect for Lawrence and surrounding counties except for Monroe County. As dry conditions continue, meteorologists suggest it will take 3 inches of rain to get the area out of the drought conditions for Southern Indiana.

On Sunday afternoon, the Indian Creek Township Fire Department responded to a report of a fast-moving field fire. The fire occurred in the 700 Block of Boone Hollow Road in Silverville. At the time of the fire windy conditions contributed to the fire spreading rapidly.

Indian Creek Fire Chief Monty Wright could not be reached for comment at this time on what started Sunday’s blaze. A fine up to $2,500 can be levied for those deliberately ignoring the burn bans.

However, some Southern Indiana counties have allowed their burn bans to expire. Decatur, Floyd, Harrison, Jennings, Ripley, and Scott Counties have lifted their burn bans.
