Vehicle Pursuit in Dubois County

(DUBOIS CO.) – On Thursday, Indiana State Police units assisted the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Jasper City Police Department with a suicidal subject that had a gun to his head in the middle of the roadway.

Prior to the officers’ arrival the subject left the area in a vehicle.

The vehicle was located and failed to stop for officers.

ISP Trooper Noah Ewing was able to set up stop sticks, which the vehicle struck and continued on. The vehicle then struck another set of stop sticks possibly deployed by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle then crashed a short distance later and ended up on its side.

Fire department officials were called to the scene and the roadway was closed at State Road 56 and County Road 1175 West.

The driver was located at the scene and transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then flown to Ascension Saint Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Today at 1:35 a.m. a BB gun was located inside the vehicle.

ISP will be working the crash investigation while the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department will be handling the criminal investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

At the scene were Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriffs Department, Dubois County Sheriffs Department, and Jasper City Police Department.
